Shaun Kohlman - Artistic Director / Vocal and Drama Teacher
Shaun began his studies at the Queensland Young Conservatorium of Music at age 16, going on to study at Griffith University and completed a 2-year Musical Theatre Internship in 2010. Shaun has worked extensively throughout South East Queensland as a performer, director, producer and teacher. Most recently, Shaun produced and performed in the Australian Premier of 35mm: A Musical Exhibition directed by Matilda award winner Cienda McNamara.
In 2014 Shaun went on tour with Opera Queensland in the leading role of Nemorino in a new adaption of Donizetti's THE ELIXIR OF LOVE (FiZZ!) as well playing the role of Gabe in NEXT TO NORMAL for Spotlight Theatre Company.
Shaun has played a range of leading roles with various companies including BLOOD BROTHERS (Edward Lyons), JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (Judas Replacement, Jesus U/S, Simon Zealotes), THE WIZARD OF OZ (Scarecrow) and GREASE (Doody) at QPAC. INTO THE WOODS (Jack) for GCLT. BOY&GIRL for Oscar Theatre Company. OASIS for An Old Fashioned Production Company. ELECTRIC AVENUE for MTP as well as touring the country with Echelon Productions.
Shaun has worked extensively as a vocal and acting coach for numerous companies throughout Brisbane including CREATIVE GENERATION - State Schools Onstage, EAST COAST MUSIC, STRICTLY DANCE, ENTERTAINMENT UNLIMITED, 5 STAR DANCE ACADEMY, and CLARRISSA HILL DANCE CENTRE. Shaun's previous directing credits include HAIRSPRAY Jr, SEUSSICAL Jr, IT ALL STARTED WITH THE MOUSE, SPEAKEASY, 13, ANNIE Jr, CABARET DANS LA RONDE, STAGE AND SCREEN, 96.5FM ROMEO THE RADIO DOG STAGE SHOW, Disney's MULAN Jr, Disney's THE JUNGLE BOOK Kids, Disney's ALADDIN Jr, CHILDREN OF THE BLACKSKIRT, THE PASSION and CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. With his infectious passion for musical theatre, Shaun is loving every minute of working with the incredibly talented and inspiring team at ROCKIT Productions.
George Canham - Company Manager / Choreographer
George began his dance training at a very early age, so turning this passion into a career was an easy choice! Through professional training, George has earned vocational qualifications in RAD Ballet, ISTD Tap, ISTD Modern, and holds an internationally recognized ISTD Associate (Teacher of Dance).
Making his professional Choreographic debut in 2014 with GUYS AND DOLLS shortly followed by Monty Python's SPAMALOT, George has cemented himself as one of the leading musical theatre choreographers in South East Queensland. With a growing list of choreography credentials to his name, past productions include YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN (Independent), A TRIBUTE OF SORTS (La Boîte Indie and QTC transfer), THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS: THE MUSICAL, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, and over 25 Youth Theatre Productions including ANNIE, CINDERELLA, ALADDIN, ALICE, and HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.
In 2011 George completed a 2-year Musical Theatre Internship to further develop his skills as a performer, choreographer, and teacher. This opened up the opportunity for him to work as the assistant choreographer for some of the most prominent productions in Queensland including JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, GREASE, and THE WIZARD OF OZ, all of which were produced at the QPAC Playhouse.
Furthering his path in this industry, he is starting to gain recognition in the field of commercial dance, working on high profile events such as Channel Nine's Underbelly Razor cast party, 96.5FM Radio stage shows, The Lord Mayor's New Works DANCE DESIGN, and the nationally televised Education Queensland's Creative Generations - State Schools Onstage in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
George is the resident dance instructor for numerous companies, dance schools, and academic colleges across the greater Brisbane area and is absolutely thrilled to be part of the ROCKIT team!
Danielle Walsh - Vocal Director / Vocal Teacher / Head of Music
After beginning her studies at the Queensland Young Conservatorium of Music in 2006, Dani completed her Bachelor of Music Studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, majoring in jazz voice, vocal pedagogy and choral conducting in 2011. During her final years of study, Dani created the group ISLAND JAZZ now known as DANIELLEfor which she is the lead singer. The group boast an impressive repertoire of 'American Songbook' Jazz and standards based on North Stradbroke Island. Most recently, Dani has released a self titled 'EP', DANIELLE in 2016. This focuses on Dani's musical roots of singer-songwriter, folk/pop original songs. Two tracks from this EP have been commissioned for various websites, Instagram accounts and wedding videography companies.
Alongside her love of Contemporary Jazz, Folk and Pop, Dani has delved into the world of Musical Theatre, playing leading roles in numerous productions. During this time she has also discovered her skills in the production side of the theatre including producing, choreography and most frequently, vocal directing.
Whilst performing regularly at weddings, restaurants and private functions Dani also has a strong passion for vocal tuition. This is the driving force behind her career as a music educator. Dani now teaches private and group vocal and guitar lessons in various locations across Brisbane and loves working with the inspiring team at ROCKIT Productions.
Olivia Weeks - Vocal Teacher
Olivia fell in love with music from an early age, and started singing at the age of nine. She followed music closely through her school years before going on to study at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, graduating with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Performance and Jazz voice.
With a passion for performance, she has completed a Musical Theatre Internship Program, and was awarded honours in her Grade 8 AMEB. Past onstage credits include WEST SIDE STORY (Velma), OLIVER! (Rose Seller Vocalist), YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN (Charlie Brown), THE LITTLE MERMAID and played Philia in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM.
Olivia has also had a successful solo career under the name PeppermintOllie, writing songs whilst accompanying herself on the ukulele and piano with a large YouTube following.
Olivia joined the ROCKIT TEAM in 2013 working with the ROCKIT CREW (Professional Performance Team) and is one of the Music Directors of the group. She brings a wealth of performance experience within numerous genres, and teaches classical, musical theatre and contemporary styles.
Olivia is passionate about sharing her love of music with anyone willing to learn and we are thrilled to have her on our team of Vocal Teachers!
Hannah Crowther - Teacher
Hannah recently made her professional theatre debut in OKLAHOMA! for Harvest Rain Theatre Company. She has recently performed in SPRING AWAKENING (Ilse, Movement Director, Dance captain) for Javeenba Theatre Company and choreographed the original musical BILLY BUCKETT (Beenleigh Theatre Company).
Hannah is currently employed by Camp Quality as part of their education program, touring throughout Australia with their puppet shows INSIDE OUT and THE WAY YOU LOOK AT IT, as well as weekly visits to the patients of The Royal Children's Hospital. She also regularly performs with THE FABULOUS SOUNDS OF THE SIXTIES SHOW (DJR Productions) as a Love Bug, and as a dancer in ROMEO THE RADIO DOG (96.5 Radio Station).
Most recently, Hannah has participated in the workshop of ASTRAEUS, a new piece, with The Blacklight Collective in association with Arts Centre Gold Coast. With Harvest Rain Theatre Company, Hannah has completed two years as an intern, and performed in many shows including (the aforementioned) OKLAHOMA!, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, GREASE, THE TWENTY-FIFTH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, SWEET CHARITY, THE WIZARD OF OZ and INK AND THE UNKNOWNS.
Hannah has also performed internationally at PUM PUM FUM FUM CHRISTMAS EVE 2009 (Hong Kong Oratorio Society) and touring to California Adventureland, Knotts Berry Farm and Disneyland in 2007 as a part of their international exchange. Hannah holds many qualifications from RAD, CSTD and Trinity examination boards: Intermediate Ballet (Royal Academy of Dancing), Grade 1 Theatrical (CSTD) and received a Distinction in Diploma of Music Theatre (Trinity College of London).
Hannah holds a huge passion for teaching and is thrilled to be part of the ROCKIT family and sharing her love of theatre while heading up the RUGRATS program!
Kristen Barros - Teacher
Kristen recently graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Drama) from Queensland University of Technology in 2013. However, she first got a taste for performing when she started at the FAME Talent Agency at the age of 5.
In 2004, she was introduced to Harvest Rain Theatre Company's MAD Youth Theatre appearing in PETER PAN (Ensemble - 2004), MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (Ensemble - 2005), CHICAGO (Judge/Reporter - 2005) and HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL (Kelsi Neilson - 2008). Her mainstage Harvest Rain credits include THE SOUND OF MUSIC (Irmegard/Ursula - 2008), CAPTAIN CHRISTMAS AND THE DEFENDERS OF THE SILLY SEASON (Sonic - 2008), GREASE (Jan - 2011) and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (Ensemble - 2011). She went on to graduate from their two year Musical Theatre Internship Program in 2010.
Her other performance credits include CLICKETY CLACK (2) for Q.U.T's Capillaries Festival (2011) and F.A.S.T: Festival of Australian Student Theatre (2012), A VERY POTTER MUSICAL (Mrs Weasley/Pansy Parkinson - 2012) and HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING (Smitty - 2012) for Lost Boys Theatre Company and YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN (Lucy Van Pelt - 2012) under the direction of Meg Ham through the Harvest Rain Affiliate Program.
Most recently, Kristen has appeared as Ruthie Taylor in BAT BOY the Musical (2013), AUTOBAHN (Silent Mother "Funny" and Woman "Autobahn" - 2013) and THINGS ARE LOOKING UP (Mother - 2013 and 2014) for Underground Productions.
Kristen currently working on two shows for the SHORT AND SWEET Festival in August as well as directing the cabaret, CARAMEL AT BEST. She is delighted to be a part of the ROCKIT team and looks forward to another exciting year!
