Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, with a beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, Annie JR. features everyone’s favourite little redhead in her very first adventure.

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable dog named Sandy.

PERFORMANCE

Our Junior 1’s will be involved in 4 performances … possibly 5 if we sell out our first four performances! 

 

TECH REHEARSAL:   Saturday 20th May

SHOW DAY (Standby):   Sunday 21st May

TECH REHEARSAL (Standby):   Saturday 23rd May

SHOW DAY:   Saturday 27th May (2 show day)

SHOW DAY:   Sunday 28th May. (2 show day)

WHO

This production is part of our JUNIOR Program for students in Grades 3 to 6. Students will be separated for weekly rehearsals into JUNIORS 1 (Grades 3-4) and JUNIORS 2 (Grade 5-6) and will perform together, alongside our younger RUGRAT students.

AUDITIONS

Auditions will be held on Saturday 4th February between 11:30-4:30pm. 

(Smaller groups will be scheduled for a 75 minute block) 

All students will be included in the production and auditions are optional for this age group. 

These auditions will be used to finalise character casting and assign roles.

REHEARSALS

Weekly rehearsals will be held on Tuesday Afternoons at ROCKIT LAUNCHPAD STUDIOS (36 Old Cleveland Rd, Capalaba, 4157)

starting on Tuesday 24th Jan 2023.

 

Classes run following the QLD State School Calendar, observing QLD Public Holidays.

 

Students in JUNIORS 1 (G3-4) will rehearse 4:00-5:45pm weekly. 

Students in JUNIORS 2 (G5-6) will rehearse 4:15-6:00pm weekly.

FULL DAY REHEARSALS

There will be two Full Day Rehearsals throughout the Semester so our Junior students can learn their blocking, extra songs and dances and piece together the show with the Rugrat cast.  

These dates are:

Saturday 11th March, Saturday 22nd April

(Times TBC)

 

EXTENDED REHEARSALS

As we near closer to the show, we extend our rehearsals a little longer (3:45pm -6:30pm) so that we can run the show with costumes within the rehearsal time. 

These dates are: 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd May

FEES

Each of our Musical Theatre performance programs run over two terms, full fees and discounts are viewable HERE.

 

A Costume Hire fee of $65 (inc. GST) will be added to your Term 1 Invoice so the team can get your costumes ordered and ready for the musical in Term 2.

We always endeavour to keep costume costs at a minimum, so some simple costumes will be supplied by students while the more complex items will be supplied by ROCKIT Productions.
