1 day of auditions, 5 days of rehearsal, 2 shows!

From the Disney Channel movie that became a global phenomenon to the hit TV series that started the career of Olivia Rodrigo, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL comes to life on stage, and this time, you can be part of it!
Set at East High on the first day back after winter break, the story follows basketball star Troy Bolton and academic standout Gabriella Montez as they challenge the school’s social “status quo” by auditioning for the school musical under the passionate direction of Ms Darbus. As cliques collide, friendships are tested and new confidence is found, students discover that they do not have to fit into one box to belong.
Inspired by the journey seen in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, this programme gives students the chance to train, rehearse and perform in a supportive, high-energy environment. With opportunities for all experience levels, big ensemble numbers and plenty of moments to shine, it is perfect for anyone who loves singing, dancing or acting.

TIME: 9:00am to 5:00pm (Drop-Off from 8:30am / Pick up until 5:30pm)
WHO: Grade 5 to 12 PLUS age 17 to 19 years. (Groups will be streamed)

• AUDITIONS •
Auditions will be held on Saturday, 10th January. These are optional for those wishing to audition for featured roles in the production. If you are unavailable to attend the audition day, you are welcome to submit a video audition instead.
AUDITION PACK - The audition pack will be emailed to you upon registration.
• DROP-OFF / PICK UP •
We know many families juggle other extracurricular activities alongside work hours during January. To assist with this, the studio will be open from 8:30 am for early drop-off and will remain open until 5:30 pm for late pick-up.

Your favourite ROCKIT team leaders will be around all week, led by our incredible Company Director, George Canham, with vocal direction by Aysa Garcia Wong and design by Shaun Kohlman.

WORKSHOP LEADERS
GEORGE CANHAM (GCertMgt, AISTD)
Director / Choreographer
George has earned vocational qualifications in RAD Ballet, ISTD Tap, ISTD Modern and holds an internationally recognised ISTD Associate (Teacher of Dance). Making his professional choreographic debut in 2014 with GUYS AND DOLLS and Monty Python's SPAMALOT, both at the QPAC Concert Hall, George has cemented himself as one of the leading musical theatre choreographers in South East Queensland.
George has choreographed for the nationally televised Education Queensland's Creative Generations - State Schools Onstage for 18 years, becoming the go-to Musical Theatre provider for the project.
With a growing list of credentials to his name, including the Australian premieres of THE LIGHTNING THIEF (ROCKIT), NEWSIES (ROCKIT) and A TRIBUTE OF SORTS (La Boîte Indie and Queensland Theatre Company), George is thrilled to be bringing High School Musical to the stage these school holidays.
AYSA GARCIA WONG
Vocal Director
After training at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, and Federation University, Aysa spent a whirlwind contract performing at Universal Studios Beijing Resort. Most recently, she stepped into the tower as Rapunzel in INTO THE WOODS with Ad Astra Theatre Company.
When she's not in the studio teaching, you can catch her lighting up the stage as a key cast member at BLUEY'S WORLD in Brisbane. She shares her passion for music as a dedicated singing teacher and expresses her creativity as a graphic designer. Always eager to learn, you'll find her taking dance classes and embracing every to grow.
Aysa can’t wait to be part of the RMTSS family in 2026! She’s super excited to bring High School Musical to life again. It’s a sweet throwback for her, having played Gabriella back in 2013!
SHAUN KOHLMAN (GCertMusST)
Producer / Designer
Shaun is a performer, producer and arts educator who is currently undertaking his Master’s Degree in Vocal Pedagogy at the QLD Conservatorium of Music. As an educator, Shaun's students have gone on to study at some of the top institutions in the country, including WAAPA, the QLD Conservatorium of Music, Adelaide Conservatorium of Music, Brent Street, ED5, ADPI & QCD.
As a designer, Shaun has brought over 75 productions to the stage with ROCKIT Productions, including BRING IT ON, THE ADDAMS FAMILY and the Australian Premiere of THE LIGHTNING THIEF.
Shaun is currently on tour with The Ten Tenors, travelling around the USA and Europe, so he can't be in the rehearsal room for High School Musical, but wishes the entire team the best for an incredible season!
